Netflix has unveiled the release window of That ‘90s Show season 2. Hailing from the team of Bonnie and Terry Turner, who created the original That ’70s Show, the spinoff debuted in 2023. It takes place in the summer of 1995, following Leia Forman (played by Callie Haverda) as she spends the summer with her grandparents in Wisconsin. Unfolding more than 15 years after the events that concluded That 70’s Show, the 1990s follow-up includes the returns of Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith in the main character roles of Kitty and Red Forman.
Netflix has now confirmed that the 16-episode That ’90s Show season 2 releases sometime in summer 2024, as part of a huge update on their slate for this year.
What To Know About The ’90s Show Season 2
In terms of the plot for the upcoming episodes, the website doesn’t reveal too much. It does confirm, however, That ’90s Show cast will reprise their roles. That includes Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen Runck, Mace Coronel as Jay Kelso, Reyn Doi as Ozzie, Sam Morelos as Nikki, and Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate Runck. It’s currently unknown whether That ’70s Show actors, other than Rupp and Smith, will continue to appear in season 2.
A brief synopsis reveals that season 2 will take place in the summer of 1996, as Leia reunites with her Point Place friends. But given how the first concluded, that may not be positive news for Donna and Eric’s daughter. In the finale of That ’90s Show season 1, Leia’s romantic drama with Nate and Jay continued. She’s somewhat split between the two, which causes a fracture in the previously close group.
Every That ’70s Show Easter Egg & Reference In That ’90s Show Season 1
Netflix’s That ’90s Show season 1 features numerous Easter eggs and references to That ’70s Show, including visits to familiar locations.
Kitty even tries to convince Leia to make up with Jay during the closing episode. She does this in part because, unlike Red, she enjoyed having a house filled with happy guests. Leia will be back in the basement, as promised by the synopsis, but there’s still some romantic fallout to be addressed in That ’90s Show season 2.
