Genshin Impact: Xianyun Character Builds (Weapons, Artifacts, Team Comps)

Quick Links

  • Best Team Comps For Xianyun
  • Best Artifacts, Skills, & Stat Priority For Xianyun

Choosing a proper team comp and giving Xianyun the best build in Genshin Impact can make a significant difference in how she operates. Xianyun is the human form of Cloud Retainer, the crane-like Adepti from Liyue. The concept for her design was originally introduced with 2023’s Lantern Rite Festival, but she has now been confirmed as a playable character. Before her release in Version 4.4, Xianyun’s gameplay kit in Genshin Impact leaked, revealing how her abilities work. Based on this, it was possible to establish her as a support unit, a claim that was later confirmed by HoYoverse.

Xianyun is a 5-star Anemo character who uses a catalyst in combat. Her focus is not spending much time on the field fighting opponents, however. Xianyun’s Elemental Skill allows her to leap up into the air up to three times, and then dive, dealing Anemo DMG and boosting her party’s Plunging Attack CRIT Rate. Her Burst increases teammates’ jump height, incentivizing them to execute Plunging Attacks, while also increasing their shockwave DMG. Before unlocking her potential as a support unit in Genshin Impact, however, you will need to equip Xianyun with a strong build and choose a worthy team comp.

Raising Bennett’s constellation to a C6 is one of Genshin Impact’s most controversial topics. Here’s the answer to choose if should you do it or not.

Best Weapons For Xianyun

Genshin Impact's Xianyun crosses her arms with a serious look on her face.

As a catalyst user, Xianyun can only equip weapons of that category. The best one for her is her signature 5-star catalyst, called Crane’s Echoing Call. This weapon stands out for two reasons. The first is the combination of its base ATK (740 at level 90, according to Honey Hunter World), and its ATK sub-stat (16.54% at level 90). The second is its weapon skill. Crane’s Echoing Call sees that, after the user hits an opponent with a Plunging Attack, all nearby party members’ Plunging Attacks in Genshin Impact deal 28% increased DMG for 20 seconds.

The attack Xianyun executes at the end of her Elemental Skill sequence is considered a Plunging Attack and, therefore, capable of activating Crane’s Echoing Call’s skill.

Additionally, Crane’s Echoing Call sees that every teammate’s Plunging Attacks that hit opponents will restore Xianyun’s Energy. This is a fantastic deal one of Xianyun’s most important stats is Energy Recharge. Her Elemental Burst is crucial to her gameplay kit as a support unit, so having a weapon that can accelerate that while not throwing aside ATK – this stat helps with her Burst’s healing abilities – is ideal. If Crane’s Echoing Call is not available, it is best to prioritize a weapon that grants ATK and/or Energy Recharge, as these are the most beneficial to Xianyun in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact: System Requirements For PC & Mobile

The system requirements to run Genshin Impact on PC and mobile devices are surprisingly not demanding. This is what you need for each platform.

The table below lists the best builds for Xianyun, including weapon options, ideal stats, best Artifacts, and more:

Xianyun’s Best Build In Genshin Impact

Weapon

  1. Crane’s Echoing Call (Best 5-star)
  2. Skyward Atlas (Substitute 5-star)
  3. Memory of Dust (Substitute 5-star – needs shields)
  4. Oathsworn Eye (Best 4-star – event-exclusive)
  5. Wine and Song (Substitute 4-star)
  6. Favonius Codex (Substitute 4-star)

Artifact

  1. Song of Days Past (4 pieces)
  2. Viridescent Venerer (4 pieces)

Stat Priority

  1. ATK
  2. Energy Recharge
  3. Elemental Mastery
  4. Healing Bonus

Skill Priority

  1. Elemental Burst
  2. Elemental Skill
  3. Normal Attack

Another weapon suggestion by GameWith is Skyward Atlas. The 5-star catalyst serves Xianyun with a decent base ATK (674 at level 90) and ATK sub-stat (33.1% at level 90). This will help increase the potency of her healing, though the weapon skill itself is somewhat useless when put into gameplay perspective – it will deal additional damage, but not a significant amount. Other catalyst substitutes for Xianyun are Oathsworn Eye and Memory of Dust. The former is a F2P (free-to-play) 4-star option in Genshin Impact. Its base ATK stat (565 at level 90) and ATK sub-stat (27.6%) are not impressive.

However, Oathsworn Eye compensates for the lack of more ATK with a weapon skill that increases the user’s Energy Recharge by 24% for 10 seconds after using an Elemental Skill. If you were able to get it to Refinement level 5, the Energy Recharge increase is taken to 48%. Memory of Dust, on the other hand, provides a decent base ATK stat (608 at level 90) and an incredible ATK sub-stat (49.6%). Its skill can also further boost ATK but is only useful if the character is shielded, which would require a shielder in Xianyun’s team comp in Genshin Impact.

Other 4-star options for Xianyun include Wine And Song and Favonius Codex, both of which have Energy Recharge as their sub-stat.

Best Team Comps For Xianyun

The best team comps for Xianyun are those that can take advantage of her abilities, both buffing and healing. Because she is not the main DPS, the team’s composition should not be built around her, instead, she should be inserted where she can best operate as a support. Because she boosts the power of Plunging Attacks, she works particularly well with Xiao in Genshin Impact, who gets bonuses to his Plunging Attacks via his Elemental Burst. Of course, because Xianyun’s Burst increases general jump height, any DPS can now execute Plunging Attacks almost seamlessly.

Xianyun’s Best Team Comps In Genshin Impact

Anemo Team Comp

  • Xianyun (Healer & Support)
  • Xiao (Main DPS)
  • Faruzan (Support)
  • Furina (Sub-DPS & Healer) / Yelan, Raiden Shogun, Xingqiu (Sub-DPS)

F2P Team Comp

  • Xianyun (Healer & Support)
  • Gaming (Main DPS)
  • Bennett (Support)
  • Xingqiu (Sub-DPS)

If you are building an Anemo-based team, Xianyun can operate as a healer and accompany Xiao, while Faruzan is the main Anemo support for the DPS. GameWith recommends the sub-DPS be Furina, which can deal off-field damage based on the party’s HP fluctuation, spread Hydro, and provide extra healing in case Xianyun gets overwhelmed. Of course, Xingqiu, Raiden Shogun, or Yelan could also work as sub-DPS, though they are unable to provide healing in Genshin Impact. The F2P team comp for Xianyun suggested by GameWith is composed of her, Gaming, Xingqiu, and Bennett.

The interesting thing about Xianyun is that she can transform any DPS unit into a Plunging Attack DPS. Those who already use this type of ability may have more advantages, but you are encouraged to experiment when building a team comp with Xianyun. Using Hu Tao or Chongyun as a Pyro or Cryo Plunging DPS, respectively, could be an option. Both characters are capable of infusing their weapons with their respective elements and having them hit opponents with Plunging Attacks in Genshin Impact can be game-changing.

Even Physical DPS characters like Eula or Freminet could potentially benefit from Xianyun’s jump height bonus.

Best Artifacts, Skills, & Stat Priority For Xianyun

Genshin Impact's Xianyun strikes a pose in combat.

When it comes to the best Artifacts for Xianyun, you should look for those that increase her potential as a healer and buffer. As stated by GameWith, the best set for Xianyun is Song of Days Past. The two-piece perk grants her a 15% Healing Bonus, but the set really stands out due to its four-piece bonus. With it, whenever Xianyun heals a teammate, she will create the Yearning effect for six seconds, which records the amount of healing, including overflow healing in Genshin Impact. When the effect expires, Yearning transforms into Waves Of Day Past.

How To Get 100% Exploration In An Area In Genshin Impact

Getting 100% exploration for all areas in Genshin Impact is a great endgame activity for those who have beaten most the game’s story content.

This new effect then sees that when the active character hits an enemy with a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst, the DMG will be increased by 8% of the healing registered by Yearning. Yearning can record up to 15,000 Healing and only one instance can exist at a time. The effect still works if Xianyun is off-field. Song of Days Past not only boosts the healing effect but rewards healing with extra damage output for the team, which fits Xianyun’s job in Genshin Impact perfectly.

If you want a more offensive Xianyun, capable of debuffing enemies, the suggested set is Viridescent Venerer. The two-piece bonus increases Anemo DMG by 15%. The four-piece bonus increases Swirl DMG by 60% and decreases enemies’ Elemental RES to Swirled elements by 40% for 10 seconds. Ultimately, Song of Days Past is a better set for Xianyun’s abilities and role, but Viridescent Venerer is a viable alternative if she is in a Swirl-based team comp.

When farming the Artifacts for Xianyun in Genshin Impact, you should prioritize ATK and Energy Recharge, with Elemental Mastery and Healing Bonus as secondary stats.

While you are leveling Xianyun’s Talents, the first priority is her Elemental Burst. This ability is what activates the team’s healing and what allows active characters to jump higher. Her second priority is her Elemental Skill. Xianyun’s Skill grants bonus DMG with Plunging Attacks – during her rotation, you should execute her Skill to completion and, upon hitting a target, activate her Burst, then change to the DPS so that they can take advantage of her healing and bonuses. The last priority is her Normal Attack, as she will hardly use this on the field.

Genshin Impact: Navia Character Builds (Weapons, Artifacts, Team Comps)

You can increase Navia’s value as a DPS unit in Genshin Impact with the best build and ideal team comp to accompany her on-field Geo presence.

Despite being a complex character in terms of gameplay, Xianyun is quite straightforward to build. Her single ATK stat scaling is very helpful when farming Artifacts and her abilities open up a wide range of possibilities when it comes to parties, as she enables new Plunging Attack team comps that were otherwise impossible in Genshin Impact.
